Fayette County Supervised Visitation & Exchanges
| The Fayette County
Supervised Visitation and Exchange Center was created to protect
victims and their children from violence while promoting the
ability for children to maintain contact with both of their
parents. Services include: court ordered supervised
visitation, safe exchanges, support groups for teens with
parents who have substance abuse issues, support groups for
sexual assault victims, and parenting classes. |
 |
| Recently, the
Visitation and Exchange Center has received funding for the
Fayette County Sheriff's DARE Officer to hold DARE classes for
the children served by the center. There are also a monthly
"lock-ins" for the children, so that the caregivers can have a
respite night.
The Center also offers presentations to
city and county law enforcement about the Center and the
services available for children and caregivers. |
| Our Mission |
| " To provide a safe, secure, and
home-like environment to assist families who have been affected
by abuse, neglect, divorce, and/or separation to rebuild family
relationships through supervised visitation and neutral exchange
services. " |
| History |
| The Fayette County Visitation Center
opened its doors on June 20, 2002. The project had been in
development for two years. The current director, Joy Stanforth,
has been with the Visitation Center since its inception. In
2005 the Visitation Center received 50,000 from the Osteopathic
Heritage Foundation to increase the amount of services and hours
the Center could operate. As the Visitation Center grows and
thrives, children are now able to meet with their family in a
neutral, homelike environment. |
