Homeless Prevention
FAMILY H.O.P.E. CENTER
The CAC Family H.O.P.E. Center is a nonprofit homeless prevention
program operated by the CACFC. The Family H.O.P.E. Center finds
innovative ways to address family and individual homelessness through the promotion of
housing stability, supportive services, and customer empowerment. By
shutting the front door to homelessness we may reduce the cost of
homelessness, in both human and monetary capital, by preventing its
occurrence in the first place.
At the core of the Family H.O.P.E. Center's Mission are
the following 4 tenets:
HOUSING: Promotion of housing stability
OPPORTUNITY: Creating opportunities for families to reach
self-sufficiency
PREVENTION: Preventing individuals, families, and children from becoming
homeless
EMPOWERMENT: Providing support and empowerment to assist
customers in reaching their goals

History
Governor Ted Strickland, the Department
of Development and the Department of Job & Family Services
provided funding to create 5 homeless prevention pilot programs in the state
of Ohio to determine the cost effectiveness and viability of combining
homeless prevention funds along with case management to decrease the
number of individuals who experience homelessness each year. Since
that point in time the program has morphed into funding provided through
the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program.
