Background
The Faith in Recovery Coalition was established in July 2014 by several government and nonprofit leaders to discuss the growing heroine epidemic in the community.  In those discussions, the need prevent substance abuse amongst our youth surfaced as a priority.  The federal grant program, Drug Free Communities, was targeted as a resource the community would benefit from to organize and deliver those efforts.  As a part of the application process, Fayette County must assess its readiness to implement the program in our community.  These efforts would support additional training and planning resources for our community to benefit Faith in Recovery member agencies and our youth.  Faith in Recovery agencies include:  nonprofits working on substance use and abuse, housing providers, Job & Family Services, the local schools, local youth serving organizations, local businesses, media, law enforcement, etc.
